![]() KVM OpenWRT guest (to handle PPP links (PPPoE, L2TP, PPP), some PBR/FO/Bonding (mwan3), SQM, and some specific packet filtering not as easily achieved in pfSense. Qotom Q355g4, i5 5200U, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, additional RTL based mini PCIe gigabit NIC + onboard Intel 4 port gigabit NIC. Definitely overkill for my current situation, but when I move to my new house that has gigabit internet, I’m not sure if that will run a few plug-in’s or if that’s plenty for whatever I decide to do down the road. I found one that has quad-core celeron with AES-NI (Intel n5105) along with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Trying to buy for now and for the future. Since PFSense opens these doors, I might use quite a few, so was looking for something that could handle that. But if I run directly on the appliance, should only need the one on the PFSense appliance. So will probably use the new one with pihole and reverse-proxy. Other network services are running on other hardware cause USG can’t do them. I know it’ll have to be more powerful as I am moving to a place that has gig internet (I currently have 25Mbps).Ĭurrently using IDS/IPS and VPN for when I’m away from home, plus failover with 2 internet connections. I am looking for advice on what firewall appliance to purchase to replace an old USG-3. ![]()
